Trump Insists Iran Must Never Obtain Nuclear Weapons

(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump reiterates that Iran must be prevented from acquiring nuclear weapons, portraying the country’s leadership as “very violent, evil people.”

“You cannot let them have a nuclear weapon, and they won’t have a nuclear weapon,” Trump said in an interview published Sunday.

He argues that Iran would have used a nuclear weapon if it had obtained one, warning that such a development could have devastated the Middle East and resulted in the destruction of Israel, while potentially putting the US and Europe at risk as well.

“If I weren't president, Israel would be gone. There would be no Israel. And there would probably be no Middle East,” he added.

Trump also claims that US military pressure is causing substantial damage to Iran and praises what he describes as a highly effective blockade imposed on the country.

“We are doing a great job. The blockade has been unbelievable ... we are hitting them very hard. Nobody has ever been hit like this,” he said.

He further describes Iran as a “failing nation” and says he was surprised when Tehran began launching attacks against Gulf countries at the beginning of the conflict.
