Israel Seizes Palestinian Land to Expand West Bank Military Site
(MENAFN) Israel issues a military order to take control of 37.5 dunams, equivalent to about 9.3 acres, of Palestinian land in the central occupied West Bank for the expansion of an existing military installation, according to Palestinian authorities.
The land targeted by the order is located in Beitunia, next to the illegal Israeli settlement of Beit Horon and close to Route 443.
According to reports, Israeli military maps indicate that the plots and roads covered by the order create a continuous area connected to the existing military site, effectively extending the territory under military control.
Under the order, an Israeli Defense Ministry official is granted full possession and use of the land for 60 days from the date the measure was issued.
Palestinian landowners and other affected parties have seven days after a field inspection to submit objections to Israeli authorities. They can also request payment for the use of their land or seek compensation, according to the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission.
The commission says the orders do not legally transfer ownership of the land. However, they prevent Palestinian owners from accessing or using their property and place the affected areas under direct Israeli military control.
