Türkiye Hosts First Defense Committee Meeting Under Mecca Pact
(MENAFN) The first meeting of the Strategic Political and Defense Committee created under the Mecca Joint Defense Pact is scheduled to take place in Istanbul on Monday, bringing together senior political and military officials from Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Türkiye is expected to be represented by Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, National Defense Minister Yasar Guler and Chief of General Staff Gen. Selcuk Bayraktaroglu.
Pakistan’s delegation is set to include Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Federal Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir. Saudi Arabia is expected to send Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan, Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman and Chief of General Staff Gen. Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili.
The committee brings together the foreign and defense ministers as well as the military chiefs of the three countries. It was established to provide strategic guidance for initiatives carried out under the Mecca Joint Defense Pact.
Officials are expected to discuss a range of international security developments during the meeting. The agenda will also focus on strengthening defense capabilities and improving coordination and interoperability between the armed forces of Türkiye, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
