Iran’s Supreme Leader Calls on Muslim Rulers to Confront Common Enemies

(MENAFN) Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei urges leaders of Muslim-majority countries to recognize what he describes as the “true enemy,” accusing the United States and Israel of working against unity among Islamic nations.

In a message marking “Islamic Unity Week,” Khamenei calls on Muslim leaders, particularly those in West Asia and the Gulf, to understand what he says are hostile plans and take action against them.

“My emphatic and repeated recommendation to the rulers of Islamic countries, particularly those in West Asia and along the Gulf, is to identify your true enemy, understand its plan and confront it,” Khamenei said, according to reports.

He claims that efforts are being made to exploit ethnic, cultural, social, economic, political and geographical differences to deepen divisions among Muslims, both in Iran and across other Islamic countries. He also calls on Iranians to prevent internal disagreements from developing into broader divisions.

“They try to turn various racial, cultural, social, economic, political, and geographical differences into pretexts for creating discord among Muslim people in Iran and in any other Islamic country," he said.

Khamenei further stresses the importance of cooperation among Muslims, saying, “Unity among Muslims is essential for achieving the beloved and dominant Islamic civilization.”

He identifies the United States and Israel as major opponents of Islamic solidarity, saying, “the sworn enemies of this unity and friendship,” while arguing that Washington and Tel Aviv pose a threat not only to Iran but to the wider Islamic world.

Tensions across the Middle East have intensified following joint US-Israeli strikes against Iran in late February. Tehran subsequently responded with retaliatory attacks targeting countries in the region that host US military assets.
