Kyiv Region Preparing Differentiated Air Raid Alert System, Fewer Train Stops

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukraine's Minister for Restoration, Infrastructure and Transport, Mykola Kalashnyk, said this in a Telegram post, according to Ukrinform.

"I held an operational meeting with the Ukrzaliznytsia team led by Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, the Kyiv City Military Administration, and military command. We are developing solutions to keep transportation and logistics operating during prolonged air raid alerts," the post said.

The safety of people is the top priority, Kalashnyk said. At the same time, the country needs to ensure the stable movement of trains connecting all parts of Ukraine. Ukrzaliznytsia continues to develop threat monitoring and response systems in coordination with the military.

"We are working on round-the-clock operation of railway stations, dispersing trains and passengers, avoiding simultaneous arrivals at adjacent platforms, reducing boarding and disembarkation times, including by simplifying security checks when the threat level is elevated, and other measures," he said.

Separately, the ministry is working on a differentiated alert system based on the type of threat, as well as changes to the curfew regime in Kyiv and the Kyiv region. This is necessary for logistics, people's movement and the functioning of the economy.

"Tomorrow [on August 31], at the initiative of Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi, we will present the proposals we have developed. All decisions will be made only after coordination with the military," Kalashnyk added.

As reported, a Russian ballistic missile struck a railway facility in Kyiv on August 22, killing an Ukrzaliznytsia employee.
