Dr Tanya Notley is Professor at the School of Arts and the Institute for Culture and Society at Western Sydney University. Her research and teaching is focused on communication, technology and social change. She has 20 years of experience working in the areas of social inclusion, media literacy and human rights with universities, the United Nations, government agencies and NGOs.

Tanya was awarded her PhD (Communication) in 2009 from the Queensland University of Technology. She has an MA in Social Change and Development and a BA in Media and Communication (from the University of Newcastle). Tanya leads the Advancing Media Literacy in Australia program at Western Sydney University and is co-founder of the Australian Media Literacy Alliance.
