Death Toll From Attack In Myla, Kyiv Region, Rises To 52

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, Timur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, reported this on Telegram.

“We are continuing to address the aftermath of the enemy attack at the site of the tragedy in the village of Myla. We are working in the community alongside Mykola Kalashnyk, Ukraine's Minister of Recovery, Infrastructure, and Transport. As of now, unfortunately, we know that 38 people were killed as a result of the strike and subsequent explosion. My condolences go out to their families and loved ones,” Tkachenko said.

In addition, 52 people were injured, including five children. Nine people remain in the hospital. Doctors assess their condition as moderate.

“Currently, here in Mila and the surrounding communities, we have identified about 300 damaged structures, including more than 200 private homes and 14 high-rise buildings. The extent of the damage varies. Some of the buildings have been completely destroyed, while others have sustained partial destruction or minor damage. However, the most important thing is the people who have lost their homes,” Tkachenko emphasized.

According to him, KOVA, together with the ministry, is developing mechanisms to rebuild destroyed homes, repair damaged infrastructure, and provide assistance to people. Tkachenko stressed that it is important for the necessary decisions to be made promptly and to facilitate the community's further recovery.

“Meanwhile, cleanup efforts continue at the site. State Emergency Service units were able to extinguish all fire hotspots. Explosive ordnance disposal teams are working around the clock on site to identify and neutralize explosive devices. On the two most heavily damaged streets, DTEK specialists have already restored power following rapid demining. Work is continuing to restore utilities-electricity and gas-in other areas,” Tkachenko reported.

The humanitarian headquarters remains open, where people can receive psychological support and submit applications for financial assistance. More than 200 such applications have already been submitted.

Tkachenko thanked the State Emergency Service personnel, the police, local authorities, medical workers, volunteers, international partners, and his own team for their efforts on behalf of people who find themselves in difficult circumstances.

As reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky previously stated that 38 people were killed, 20 were injured, and 4 are missing as a result of the strike in Myla.
