Iran’s Supreme Leader Calls on Muslim Rulers to Confront ‘True Enemy’
(MENAFN) Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has urged leaders of Muslim-majority countries to identify what he described as the “true enemy,” accusing the United States and Israel of working against unity across the Islamic world.
In a message issued for “Islamic Unity Week,” Khamenei called on governments, particularly those in West Asia and the Gulf region, to examine what he characterized as hostile plans and take action against them.
“My emphatic and repeated recommendation to the rulers of Islamic countries, particularly those in West Asia and along the Gulf, is to identify your true enemy, understand its plan and confront it,” Khamenei said, according to reports.
He stressed that greater solidarity among Muslims was necessary “for achieving the beloved and dominant Islamic civilization.”
Khamenei accused Washington and Tel Aviv of being “the sworn enemies of this unity and friendship,” arguing that their opposition extends beyond Iran to the wider Islamic world.
“The US and Israel are "the sworn enemies of this unity and friendship,” Khamenei claimed, saying that Washington and Tel Aviv are not only "enemies" of Iran but also of the “entire” Islamic world.
His remarks come as tensions across the Middle East remain elevated following a series of military confrontations between Iran, the US and Israel.
The latest escalation began after Washington and Israel launched joint strikes against Iran in late February. Tehran subsequently carried out retaliatory attacks against regional locations hosting US military assets.
The two sides later reached a ceasefire in April, followed by a memorandum of understanding in June intended to bring an end to the military confrontation and establish a lasting peace agreement.
That diplomatic process subsequently broke down last month, leading to nearly two weeks of renewed attacks between Iran and the US. President Donald Trump eventually ordered an abrupt halt to the bombardment as reports emerged of efforts to restart negotiations aimed at ending the conflict.
