JITOA, Emirates Sign Tourism Cooperation Mou
Amman, Aug. 30 (Petra) --Jordan Inbound Tour Operators Association (JITOA) on Sunday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Emirates Airline in Jordan, aimed to deepen cooperation and support the Kingdom's tourism promotion efforts in overseas markets.
According to an association statement, JITOA Chairman Nabih Riyal and Mohammad bin Hafiz and Emirates' manager for Jordan and the West Bank, signed the memo. Ahmad Sader, sales manager for Jordan and the West Bank, attended the ceremony.
The agreement, which covers discounted airfares for association members on business trips, entails joint efforts to organize workshops, exhibitions and familiarization trips abroad. It also draws on Emirates' network and market presence to support Jordan's promotion as a tourist destination.
Under the memo, JITOA members will encourage their overseas agents and partners to book Emirates flights within tourism packages to Jordan. Both sides will also develop joint Jordan-UAE tourism programs, marketed through Emirates' global network.
The JITOA said the agreement reflects its push to build partnerships with international carriers and widen channels of cooperation that support the tourism sector's reach into global markets.
Cooperation under the memorandum will focus on destinations unserved by the national carrier, Royal Jordanian, including Japan, the Far East and Latin America, the JITOA said.
JITOA noted that the arrangement is "complementary" to Royal Jordanian's role and gives Jordan's tourism sector "broader access to international airline networks." As for its significance, the JITOA said the step forms part of a "wider" effort to strengthen ties with tourism-sector stakeholders and grow inbound visitor numbers, reinforcing Jordan's position on the global tourism map.
