Milo Yiannopoulos Faces Deportation to UK After Missing US Hearing
(MENAFN) British far-right figure and former Donald Trump supporter Milo Yiannopoulos is deported from the United States to the UK after failing to attend an immigration hearing, according to US authorities.
The 41-year-old is detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport on Friday. His detention follows his failure to appear at an immigration hearing in July, after which an immigration judge issues a final removal order on July 22.
US authorities say Yiannopoulos enters the United States legally through New York City on May 14, 2019, but later remains in the country after his immigration status expires.
Yiannopoulos gains prominence through his association with the far-right media organization Breitbart in the period leading up to the 2016 presidential election. He leaves the organization in 2017 after controversial remarks from his past resurface.
Following his departure, Yiannopoulos becomes involved in disputes with several far-right personalities as well as figures within the mainstream Republican establishment. He publicly breaks with Trump in 2020, although he later continues to maintain ties with individuals connected to the Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement.
