Modi Arrives in Uzbekistan for State Visit, Bilateral Talks
(MENAFN) Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in Uzbekistan on Saturday for a two-day state visit focused on strengthening relations with the Central Asian country.
Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev welcomes Modi at Tashkent-Khumo International Airport, where the Indian leader receives a formal reception and guard of honor.
The two leaders are scheduled to hold official talks on Sunday. Following Modi’s arrival, they visit Yangi Uzbekistan Park in Tashkent and place flowers at the Independence Monument.
The visit takes place shortly before a two-day summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in neighboring Kyrgyzstan, which begins Monday.
Modi is scheduled to participate in the summit, which coincides with the SCO’s 25th anniversary and brings together leaders from the organization’s member states.
