Türkiye Summons Ukraine's Envoy Over Black Sea Vessel Attacks
(MENAFN) Turkish authorities summoned Ukraine's ambassador to Ankara on Saturday after two Turkish-operated ships came under attack in the Black Sea, according to Turkish Foreign Ministry sources.
The vessel "Lider Bordo Mavi" was hit on Aug. 26 near the Russian port city of Tuapse. A second ship, "Lider Kocatepe," dispatched the next day to tow the damaged vessel, was also struck, the sources said.
In response, Ankara called in Ukraine's ambassador to formally register Türkiye's objections over the incidents. During the meeting, Turkish officials underscored the need to safeguard lives, property, navigation and the environment across the Black Sea, and delivered warnings on the matter, according to the sources.
