Iran Warns of US, Israel-Aligned Efforts to Distort Energy Markets

(MENAFN) Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accuses individuals within the US administration and figures aligned with Israel of seeking to influence international energy markets while encouraging the continuation of the conflict with Iran.

“Our intelligence shows major efforts to game energy markets,” Araghchi said on US social media company X.

He claims some elements of the US government are relying on “gullible media” to affect energy prices, allegedly for their own financial benefit and to keep US President Donald Trump “mired in a losing war.”

Araghchi also alleges that figures supportive of Israel are encouraging further fighting by presenting overly optimistic assessments of the conflict.

“Israel-aligned actors also promote war with rosy assessments,” Araghchi said, adding that US consumers were feeling the economic consequences.

The Iranian foreign minister does not present evidence or offer additional details to substantiate the accusations.

His comments come as the US-Israeli war against Iran continues, with the conflict beginning on Feb. 28 and creating significant disruptions and uncertainty across regional energy markets and maritime security.
