Russia Extends Diesel Export Ban Through September Amid Fuel Crunch
(MENAFN) Russia announced Saturday it has extended a ban on exports of certain fuel types, including diesel, through Sept. 30.
According to a government statement, a decree formalizing the extension was signed, covering exports of marine fuel and gas oils by Russian producers in addition to diesel.
"The decision was made to maintain stability in the domestic fuel market," the statement said, noting that a broader, general ban on fuel exports remains in force until Jan. 31, 2027.
The restrictions on diesel, marine fuel, and gas oil exports had been due to lapse on Monday.
The extension comes as Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy infrastructure in recent months have compounded strain on the country's fuel sector.
