Modi Lands in Uzbekistan for State Visit Ahead of SCO Summit

(MENAFN) Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Uzbekistan on Saturday for a state visit, where he is set to hold talks with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

According to a statement from the Uzbek presidency, Mirziyoyev welcomed Modi with a guard of honor upon his arrival at Tashkent-Khumo International Airport.

The two leaders, who are scheduled to hold formal talks on Sunday, went on to visit Yangi Uzbekistan Park in the capital, where they laid flowers at the Independence Monument.

Modi's visit precedes a two-day summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) set to begin Monday in neighboring Kyrgyzstan. The Indian premier is expected to attend the gathering, which falls on the organization's 25th anniversary.
