Israeli Forces Blow Up Elderly Care Home in South Lebanon
(MENAFN) The Israeli army detonated an elderly care facility in southern Lebanon on Saturday, the latest in a series of actions Lebanon's NNA news agency described as violations of the country's sovereignty.
The care home, which served elderly residents, was located in the town of Houla in the Marjayoun district. Israeli forces also razed buildings situated between the towns of Markaba and Rab El Thalathine within the same district.
Further south, in the Nabatieh district, an Israeli drone strike hit open terrain between Jarmaq and Kfar Remman, while artillery shelling struck the outskirts of Zawtar al-Gharbiyeh. Additional Israeli artillery fire targeted an area between the towns of Haddatha and Haris.
The strikes come amid an ongoing Israeli military campaign in Lebanon that began with a new offensive in March, during which Israeli forces have pushed deeper into southern territory.
The escalation follows a US-mediated framework agreement reached between Lebanon and Israel on June 26, under which Israel committed to a phased withdrawal in return for the deployment of the Lebanese army and the disarmament of armed factions, including Hezbollah.
