Milo Yiannopoulos Deported to UK After Skipping Hearing
(MENAFN) Milo Yiannopoulos, the controversial internet personality and former Donald Trump supporter, has been deported to the United Kingdom after failing to appear at an immigration hearing, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said Saturday.
Yiannopoulos, 41, was taken into custody by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport on Friday. According to media, authorities said he missed a scheduled immigration hearing in July, leading a judge to issue a final removal order on July 22.
The DHS said Yiannopoulos entered the US legally through New York City on May 14, 2019, but subsequently overstayed his authorized immigration status.
Yiannopoulos first gained widespread attention through the far-right outlet Breitbart in the lead-up to the 2016 presidential election, drawing heavy criticism for provocative speeches and campus appearances across US universities. He departed Breitbart in 2017 after past controversial comments resurfaced publicly.
In the years since, Yiannopoulos has feuded with a number of far-right figures and establishment Republicans alike. He also split from Trump in 2020, though he continued to maintain ties to figures within the MAGA movement.
In 2024, Yiannopoulos worked alongside rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, on Ye's unsuccessful presidential bid — a campaign that came amid widespread criticism of Ye over antisemitic remarks in recent years.
