Tusk Warns Next Six Months Are Decisive as Russian Escalation Grows
(MENAFN) Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warns that increasing Russian escalation could make the next six months critical for European security following discussions with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Tusk says Rutte briefs him on the latest developments across the region and along the Ukrainian-Russian front. He emphasizes that Ukraine needs stronger air support while European NATO members must prepare for a range of potential scenarios.
“As I warned, escalation on Russia’s part is progressing,” Tusk wrote on X. “Ukraine needs greater support in the air, which is also important for our security. This is a task for all of Europe.”
“The next six months will be decisive,” he added, urging Poland and its NATO allies to remain prepared for different possible developments.
Tusk also warns that Moscow could potentially attempt to provoke a confrontation with a NATO member.
“We cannot rule out a provocation by Russia against one of the NATO members,” Tusk said.
His latest remarks reinforce concerns he raises a day earlier, when he describes the conflict as reaching a critical turning point and says Russia appears increasingly prepared to intensify tensions both inside Ukraine and across the broader region.
