Iran Reports Crackdown on Alleged US, Israel Linked Group
(MENAFN) Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) says security forces break up a group allegedly connected to the United States and Israel in southeastern Iran, killing one person and arresting six others.
The IRGC Ground Force’s Quds Headquarters says the operation takes place shortly after the group enters the Saravan area in Sistan and Baluchestan province, near the border with Pakistan.
The operation is carried out jointly by the provincial Intelligence Department, the IRGC Intelligence Organization and Iranian police forces, according to the statement.
Authorities kill one alleged member of the group and detain six others who are described as members or supporters. Security forces also seize 20 packages containing explosives and related materials, along with large quantities of light and semi-heavy weapons, ammunition and Starlink communications equipment.
The IRGC says the group plans to launch attacks against specific targets in the southern parts of Sistan and Baluchestan.
Iranian authorities further allege that the group has links to both the US and Israel and accuse it of preparing a series of attacks as part of the ongoing US war against Iran.
