Sudanese Army Reinforces Blue Nile Front Amid Fighting with RSF
(MENAFN) The Sudanese army deploys an additional brigade to the Bakori operational axis in southeastern Blue Nile state as fighting continues with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The army’s 4th Infantry Division in Damazin says the Elite Brigade, belonging to the security and intelligence service, leaves Saturday morning for the Bakori front to take part in a combat mission.
“The deployment aims to reinforce forces stationed in the area, boost their operational capabilities and support ongoing military operations,” the statement said.
Maj. Gen. Ismail al-Tayeb Hussein, commander of the 4th Infantry Division, emphasizes the need for troops to maintain a high level of readiness, discipline and combat preparedness as he oversees their departure.
The deployment follows Hussein’s visit a day earlier to the Fazogli areas in Blue Nile state. The army says the visit comes after attacks carried out by the RSF and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N).
The RSF claims Friday that its fighters capture the Bakori and Sarkam military bases located southeast of Damazin, the capital of Blue Nile state. The Sudanese army has yet to respond to the claim as of Saturday morning.
