Pezeshkian Calls for Dialogue, Urges Trump to Avoid Regional Turmoil
(MENAFN) Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian urges US President Donald Trump on Saturday to refrain from actions that could further destabilize the region, arguing that dialogue and the implementation of a memorandum of understanding can provide a path toward resolving outstanding disputes.
“If we proceed through dialogue and on the basis of the memorandum of understanding, we will resolve the problems and secure our rights,” Pezeshkian said during a ceremony in Tehran.
He stresses that avoiding further escalation would benefit Iran, the wider region and the international community.
“It is in the interest of the country, the region and the world that Trump does not create turmoil and that Israel does not cause insecurity and aggression,” he added.
Pezeshkian says Tehran does not seek confrontation or war, but warns that Iran would respond decisively if attacked.
“We do not like war, but we will stand with strength against aggression and defend ourselves,” he said, adding that no power could force a united nation determined to defend its territory to surrender.
The Iranian president says his government continues to pursue diplomatic solutions through negotiations, while emphasizing that Iran’s population, officials and military leadership would “never surrender” in response to threats or acts of aggression.
He also accuses Israel of attempting to deepen divisions between Muslim countries, arguing that stronger cooperation and unity among Islamic nations could prevent such efforts from succeeding.
