Tehran Faces Exceptional Conditions Under US Naval Blockade
(MENAFN) The US naval blockade against Iran creates “very exceptional and unique” circumstances for managing the country during the war, Tehran Governor Mohammad-Sadeq Motamedian says Saturday.
Motamedian says Iran faces intensified sanctions at the same time as attacks target critical infrastructure across the country, while the naval blockade further complicates efforts to maintain essential services and manage domestic affairs.
“The blockade imposed on our country in the maritime domain meant that managing the country took place under truly exceptional and unique conditions,” he said.
He says infrastructure in several parts of Iran, particularly in Tehran, comes under attack during the conflict, with the capital serving as a major target of US-Israeli military operations.
More than 1,200 electricity infrastructure sites across Tehran province are targeted during the war, according to Motamedian. Despite the scale of the damage, authorities manage to restore electricity services within a relatively short period.
Water infrastructure also sustains damage but is repaired quickly, while telecommunications and gas facilities are likewise affected by the attacks.
