Four People Missing After Russian Strike On Warehouses In Myla, Kyiv Region Vyhivskyi

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Vyhivskyi said this in a Facebook post, Ukrinform reports.

According to him, emergency rescue operations and urgent investigative actions at the site of the enemy strike are continuing.

Police, together with the Security Service of Ukraine and the Prosecutor General's Office, are establishing all the details, most importantly why a warehouse containing ammunition was located among ordinary residential buildings.

As part of the investigation, around 40 victims and witnesses have already been interviewed. Physical evidence has been sent for expert examination.

“Since this morning, I have been working at the site of the tragedy with Prime Minister of Ukraine Sergii Koretskyi. I regularly report to the President of Ukraine on the progress of efforts to eliminate the consequences of the Russian strike and on the criminal investigation into official negligence,” Vyhivskyi said.

He recalled that around 130 houses on several streets were damaged as a result of the Russian strike and the subsequent detonation of ammunition.

At present, 37 deaths have been confirmed. According to the minister, the identification of many of the victims is still underway.

Around 400 residents were quickly evacuated overnight. More than ten people who were in basements and unable to leave on their own were also rescued.

Rescuers are still extinguishing fires in some areas, and it remains dangerous to stay near the site.

Tents operated by the State Emergency Service and police have been set up in the community. Assistance, including psychological support, is available there. Mobile units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs' service center and the migration service are also operating, helping people restore their documents.

Traffic on the Kyiv–Zhytomyr highway has been partially restored.

“Since last night, we have deployed the maximum number of personnel and resources from four regions of Ukraine. Despite the scale of the destruction, we must quickly eliminate all the consequences and enable people to return to their homes,” the minister said.

As Ukrinform reported, on the evening of August 28, warehouses in Bucha district of Kyiv region caught fire as a result of an attack by Russian forces. The fire was accompanied by explosions.

There were reports of 37 fatalities.

Law enforcement officers have opened criminal proceedings over the enemy strike.
