In a statement, the Afghanistan Kurash, SAMBO and Belt Wrestling Federation said two heavyweight athletes and an assistant coach, led by Hakmatullah Hakimi, coach of the national Pahlawani wrestling team, departed for Kyrgyzstan this morning to participate in the sixth World Nomad Games.

The federation said the sporting and cultural event will be held from September 2 to 8, with around 3,000 athletes from 100 countries competing in 43 sports. The event will take place in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, and around Lake Issyk-Kul.

The federation recalled that Afghanistan won two silver medals in Pahlawani wrestling at the fourth edition of the games, held in Bursa, Turkey, in 2024.
