Zelensky Orders Over 3-Fold Increase In Long-Range Drone Strikes On Russia
According to Al Jazeera, Zelenskyy said in an address on Friday evening that the attacks needed to increase further.
“There needs to be more,” the president said.“There is a concrete goal, and we will fulfil this task.”
Zelenskyy said the Ukrainian military had carried out a drone strike on an oil refinery in Russia's Yaroslavl region, around 1,000 kilometres from the frontline.
He claimed that Ukrainian attacks on Russian military production facilities and oil infrastructure had increased pressure on Moscow's fuel supplies and export revenues.
Moscow has not yet responded to Zelenskyy's remarks. However, Russia's Defence Ministry previously said its forces had intercepted 512 Ukrainian drones overnight on August 28.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Kyiv was aware of Moscow's demands but, according to him, did not want to resolve the conflict peacefully. He added that Russia would therefore continue its military operations.
