Ex-Ukraine Defense Chief Fedorov Named Italy's Innovation Adviser
(MENAFN) Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has taken on a new post advising Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto on defense innovation, the two officials confirmed Friday.
Crosetto said the pair held extensive talks covering drones, unmanned systems, air defense capabilities, and the broader buildup of a defense technology ecosystem.
“Given his significant experience in digital innovation applied to public administration and defense, I am pleased that Mykhailo Fedorov has agreed to provide me with his expertise as an adviser for defense innovation,” Crosetto said in a statement.
Fedorov, for his part, credited the Italian minister's “personal support” and expressed gratitude for the appointment, pledging to help Italy integrate cutting-edge warfare technologies, bolster its defense industry, and keep pace with shifting global security threats.
“Ukraine and our team possess unique, real-world experience in high-tech warfare that we are eager to share with our allies,” he posted on X.
Despite the new role, Fedorov stressed that his central mission remains at home — advancing projects that strengthen Ukraine's own defense capacity and drawing in international funding and resources.
According to Italy's Defense Ministry, the advisory position is designed to accelerate the shift from technological experimentation to operational, large-scale deployment.
Fedorov held the post of Ukraine's defense minister in 2026, following earlier senior government roles centered on digital transformation and technological modernization.
