Türkiye Endorses SDF Integration into Syrian State Institutions
(MENAFN) Türkiye’s Defense Ministry welcomes the dissolution of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF)
and their incorporation into Syria’s state institutions, describing the move as an important step
toward protecting the country’s sovereignty and territorial unity.
The ministry says the development reinforces the principle of maintaining “one state, one army”
and could contribute to greater stability across Syria.
Defense Ministry spokesperson Zeki Akturk says the Turkish Armed Forces will continue
supporting Syria under the existing military cooperation agreement.
"Our Turkish Armed Forces will continue their support, within the framework of the existing
military cooperation agreement, to help extend the positive momentum achieved in Syria across
the country, ensure lasting stability and strengthen the capabilities of the Syrian army,
particularly in the fight against terrorism," Akturk said.
He also addresses the broader regional situation, arguing that Israel’s military operations and
expansionist policies in Gaza, Lebanon and Syria continue to represent a major barrier to
achieving lasting peace and stability.
According to Akturk, these actions must come to an end as soon as possible to create conditions
for greater security and stability across the region.
