Qatari, Iranian Foreign Ministers Discuss Efforts to Ease Tensions

(MENAFN) Qatar’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani meets with
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran as Doha continues efforts to reduce tensions
between Iran and the United States.

Iranian authorities release images from the meeting but provide no immediate details about the
discussions.

Sheikh Mohammed, who also serves as Qatar’s prime minister, travels to Tehran as part of
Doha’s ongoing diplomatic efforts to encourage de-escalation and create conditions for renewed
dialogue.

Before the visit, Qatari officials say the discussions are expected to focus on ways to ease
regional tensions, as well as freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and restoring
the strategic waterway to the conditions that existed before Feb. 28.

The visit marks Sheikh Mohammed’s first trip to Iran since the conflict between Washington and
Tehran began following US and Israeli strikes on Iranian territory in late February.
