Iranian President Rejects US Economic Pressure
(MENAFN) Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian says Washington will not be able to accomplish its goals
by increasing economic pressure on Tehran, following the launch of a broad new sanctions
campaign against Iran.
Pezeshkian makes the remarks during a three-hour meeting at the Central Bank of Iran in Tehran
with Economy Minister Ali Madanizadeh, Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati and
several economists, according to the Iranian presidency.
The meeting focuses on Iran’s monetary, currency and financial conditions as the country faces
what Pezeshkian describes as pressure resulting from war, an economic blockade and outside
measures.
He emphasizes the importance of preserving economic stability and preventing inflation
expectations from worsening. He also says that managing crucial markets, particularly the
currency and monetary sectors, requires strong coordination among the government, the Central
Bank and other economic bodies.
“Our approach is understanding and resolving issues through interaction and negotiation, but at
the same time, we have stood and will continue to stand firmly against economic pressure,”
Pezeshkian said.
The Iranian president also argues that the US does not accomplish its objectives during the war,
attributing this to the resistance of Iran’s armed forces and continued public backing.
