France Issues Severe Thunderstorm Warning Across Regions
(MENAFN) France’s national weather service places 12 departments in the western and central parts of the
country under an orange thunderstorm warning for Wednesday, as authorities prepare for
potentially dangerous weather conditions.
“There is a risk of hail, heavy rain with hourly accumulations of up to 30 millimeters (1.2
inches), wind gusts of 80 to 100 kilometers per hour (50-62 miles per hour), and intense
lightning activity,” Meteo-France warned on US social media company X.
Officials anticipate “a significant risk of severe weather phenomena” as the storm system moves
through the affected areas, according to reports.
The warning follows powerful storms that hit southern France from Monday night into Tuesday.
The weather caused significant disruption, including a destructive tornado in the Aude
department on Monday.
Unstable conditions are expected to persist in the days ahead. Forecasters predict another storm
system could form Thursday, stretching “from the southern Massif Central to Lorraine.”
Storms and rainfall are then expected to move toward eastern parts of the country on Friday
morning.

France as unsettled weather continues.
