Bulgaria Upgrades Key Border Crossing with Türkiye

(MENAFN) Bulgaria is preparing to modernize the Kapitan Andreevo border checkpoint with Türkiye in an
effort to handle higher traffic volumes and ease congestion at one of the busiest crossings
between the two countries.

The renovation is expected to help shorten waiting periods for trucks and travelers, particularly
during the migrant season when traffic increases as Turkish-Bulgarian residents return home.

Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer and Nikolay Shushkov of Bulgaria’s National Customs Agency
meet to discuss the planned construction and renovation work at the crossing.

During the meeting, the two officials and their delegations visit the checkpoint to review
progress on the ongoing improvements, according to the governor’s office.

The upgrades are intended to strengthen the crossing’s operational capacity and improve the
movement of vehicles and travelers between Türkiye and Bulgaria.
