Russia Recruits Indonesian Citizens For War, Intelligence Says


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine reported this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"The Foreign Intelligence Service has obtained documents concerning at least eight Indonesian citizens who were recruited into the ranks of Russia's occupation army," the agency said.

According to the intelligence service, Russia recruits foreigners using an established scheme, offering high payments, non-combat positions, expedited citizenship and various social benefits.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, Russians have already used this scheme to recruit citizens of Nepal, Cuba, Kenya and India.

The Foreign Intelligence Service stressed that most citizens of these countries ended up on the front lines without proper training, and some were killed within the first few weeks.

As Ukrinform reported, prosecutors in Peru are investigating human trafficking involving Peruvian citizens who were recruited for "work in Russia" but were instead sent to fight on the front line in Ukraine.
