Amarnath Yatra Concludes At Cave Shrine
The yatra, which began on July 3, coincided with Raksha Bandhan and concluded nearly three weeks after the pilgrimage was suspended on August 9 due to damage to the track and adverse weather conditions.
ADVERTISEMENTThe Chhari-Mubarak, carried by a group of sadhus led by its custodian Mahant Dipendra Giri, reached the cave shrine in the early hours of Friday after a six-kilometre trek from Sheshnag.
Special prayers were held at the shrine, which houses the naturally formed ice Shivlingam, considered a manifestation of Lord Shiva.
ADVERTISEMENTThe group of sadhus and devotees had trekked 42 km from Pahalgam, with night halts at Chandanwari, Sheshnag and Panchtarani.

The pujan and visarjan ceremonies will be held on the banks of the Lidder river in Pahalgam on Sunday, after which the Chhari-Mubarak will return to its abode at the Amareshwar Temple at Dashnami Akhara in Srinagar, officials said.
More than 4.80 lakh pilgrims undertook the Amarnath Yatra this year.
