Profile Articles

I teach at a small university in the Midwest. My focus is how people manage our natural environments and make decisions about what to do with spaces. I teach a wide variety of classes including environmental management, food and agriculture, and mapping and cartography.

What I love about geography is its inherent interdisciplinary nature. Geographers work within the natural sciences, the social sciences, and the humanities. Cross disciplinary work is key to finding solutions to our most pressing social and environmental issues in the 21st century.

My current research focuses on using AI and deep learning to map urban agriculture around the world. Currently I'm mapping community gardens and urban farms in the Twin Cities.
