Jordan In Group D For U17 Asian Cup Qualifiers
35 nations will play the qualifiers in 7 groups from November 8-20. For the final competition in Uzbekistan 2027, group leaders will join 9 who qualified to the 2026 FIFA U17 World Cup: Japan, Australia. China, South Korea, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Vietnam
Teams contesting the qualifiers are:
Group A: Indonesia, Myanmar (H), Afghanistan, Philippines, Cambodia
Group B: Thailand (H), Iraq, Hong Kong, China, Chinese Taipei, Maldives
Group C: UAE (H), Bangladesh, Syria, Bhutan, Macau, China
Group D: IR Iran, Laos (H), Jordan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka
Group E: India, Malaysia (H), Palestine, Singapore, Guam
Group F: Yemen, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyz Republic (H), Mongolia, Northern Mariana Islands
Group G: Oman (H), Kuwait, Bahrain, Lebanon, Brunei Darussalam
In the last edition, Jordan's U-17 squad, West Asia champs in 2022, lost their qualifying chance to the 2026 U-17 AFC Asian Cup from which the top eight finishers represent Asia at the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup. It was the fourth time Jordan fails to advance to the competition since first participating in 1985, after qualifying three times: 1990, 2010, and 2018.
On the other hand, Jordan's U-20 football team is starting their countdown for the upcoming U20Asian Cup qualifiers in which Jordan plays in Group D alongside, Tajikistan, Afghanistan and hosts Bahrain August 31-September 6.
In their last training camp in Qatar, Jordan lost 2-1 to Saudi Arabia after a similar camp in Kuwait where Jordan beat their hosts twice 1-0. They also held a camp in Egypt losing 2-0 and 3-0. In recent matches, the team lost to Uzbekistan 2-1 and held them 1-1 and Iraq 0-0.
Jordan is eyeing the 2027 U-20 Asian Cup to which the squad has previously qualified to 9 times finishing fourth in 2006 to advance to the U-20 World Cup in 2007. In previous Asian Cup editions, the team exited the group stages in 1977, 1978, 2008, 2010, 2018 and 2025; exited the quarterfinals in 2012 and 2023. In the past decade, they did not qualify in 2014 and 2016.
