Asian Cultural Council Opens 2027 Grant Cycle Applications

(MENAFN- USA Art News) The Asian Cultural Council (ACC) has announced the launch of its 2027 global funding cycle, inviting applications from artists, scholars, and cultural organizations seeking grants to support cultural exchange. The application period for the grants is scheduled to run from October 1 through November 10, 2026.

This initiative continues the organization's decades-long commitment, established in 1963, to fostering cross-cultural understanding. The ACC's approach emphasizes immersive, relationship-focused programming rather than solely funding cultural production or output.

For the 2027 cycle, the ACC offers four distinct funding tracks, designed to support artists and institutions at various career stages and levels of establishment:

The New York Fellowship provides a six-month residency for international artists and cultural professionals, allowing them to engage deeply with New York City's art community. The Individual Fellowship offers flexible support, varying in duration, budget, and location, to bolster self-directed research and creative explorations. The Graduate Fellowship delivers living stipends to eligible students from Asian countries accepted into U.S. graduate programs. The Organization Grant funds nonprofit projects that promote cultural research, peer-to-peer collaboration, and broader access to regional artistic communities.

ACC Executive Director Judy Kim stated,“Our fellowship and grant opportunities offer essential support for artists, scholars, arts professionals, and organizations to deeply engage with a culture different from their own. And the impact extends far beyond just the fellowship itself. These experiences open up new ways of seeing the world, shaping perspectives and deepening understanding across cultures.”

This philosophy has guided the ACC since its inception, prioritizing experiences that offer grantees time, freedom, and creative open-endedness to investigate and engage with unfamiliar cultures. To date, this mission has facilitated approximately 6,000 fellowship exchanges across 16 disciplines, supporting grantees from 26 countries and regions with over $100 million in awards.

While the application window opens on October 1, 2026, comprehensive outlines of eligibility requirements, discipline guidelines, and application portals are currently available. Consistent with previous years, the program's focus remains on cultural and creative exchange between the United States and Asia, as well as travel and collaboration within Asia itself.
