SOS Girls Meet Gujarat Guv Devvrat, Tie Rakhis On Raksha Bandhan
The girls met Devvrat at Lok Bhavan and tied rakhis to him as part of the Raksha Bandhan celebrations.
During the interaction, the Governor spoke to the girls about their studies and sought to know about their educational pursuits and future goals.
The girls also presented him with a painting prepared by them. The Governor was briefed on the activities undertaken by the SOS institution for the education, care and overall development of children.
The organisation provides support and guidance to children in need to help them pursue education in schools and colleges.
According to the information shared during the programme, the SOS institution currently has around 32 centres operating across 21 states in the country.
The Kutch-Bhuj centre is among its programmes supporting children through education, care and other developmental activities.
Appreciating the work being carried out by the organisation, Devvrat said:“The work of taking children forward towards education, values, self-confidence and self-reliance is extremely important for shaping the future of society.”
The interaction also focused on the importance of supporting children beyond formal education and helping them develop confidence and the ability to become self-reliant.
The Governor enquired about the girls' academic progress and their ambitions, while the children shared their experiences.
The SOS Children's Village in Bhuj was established in 2001 following the devastating earthquake that left many children without parental care.
The organisation currently provides care and education to children at the centre, while also running programmes aimed at education, youth development, vocational training and family strengthening.
At the Raksha Bandhan gathering, the Governor extended his greetings to all the girls present and wished them a bright future.
The programme concluded with the girls' interaction with the Governor and the presentation of their handmade paintings.
