TAPI Project In Herat To Be Completed Within 2 Months: Governor
The Herat governor's media office said in a statement on Thursday that Governor Sheikh Maulana Islam Jar made the remarks at a ceremony to inaugurate the administrative building of the Herat Chamber of Industries and Mines.
Islam Jar said Turkmenistan's representatives had completed their work on the Herat section of the project and would hand it over to provincial authorities once the remaining work was completed.
He urged factory owners and residents of Herat to prepare for the use of TAPI gas.
The TAPI project is one of the region's largest gas transmission projects and is designed to transport natural gas from Turkmenistan through Afghanistan to Pakistan and India.
The pipeline is about 1,800 kilometres long and is expected to have the capacity to transport 33 billion cubic metres of natural gas annually.
The TAPI project is considered a major regional economic initiative that could contribute to Afghanistan's economic development and create employment opportunities.
