Russian Spy Network Targeting Ukraine's Defense Forces Exposed In Kramatorsk

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) According to Ukrinform, the SSU reported this on its website.

The Russian intelligence service had tasked the agents with identifying reserve command posts, logistics warehouses, fortifications and routes used by Ukraine's Defense Forces toward the front line. At the FSB's request, the agents also monitored the aftermath of Russian attacks on Kramatorsk to help prepare new strikes and adjust subsequent attacks on the city.

According to the case materials, three of the suspects were recruited through a longtime acquaintance who lives in St. Petersburg and works for Alexander Nogash, an employee of the so-called "FSB Directorate in the DPR."

One of the agents was a driver for a Kramatorsk municipal housing and utilities company. Under the pretext of making work-related trips, he traveled around the city to identify the locations of Ukrainian defenders and pass the information to the enemy.

He also searched for potential candidates to be recruited by Russian intelligence services.

The group also included a local plumber and his wife, who drove around the city in their own car and used a phone camera to record facilities that they believed were being used by Ukraine's Defense Forces.

The agent couple later recruited a friend, a local real-estate agent, to cooperate with the enemy. On the FSB's orders, she gathered intelligence on locations where Ukrainian personnel were concentrated and the routes used by Ukrainian defenders in the Donetsk region.

SSU officers exposed all four suspects, documented their crimes and detained them at their homes.

During searches, investigators seized smartphones and other electronic devices containing evidence of their cooperation with the FSB.

SSU investigators charged the detainees under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - high treason committed under martial law.

The suspects are being held in custody. They face life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

As Ukrinform reported, law enforcement officers in the Kyiv region foiled an attack by Russian intelligence services targeting the head of a defense company.
