Kremlin Considering Hybrid Attacks On Individual EU Countries, CCD Chief Says

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Andrii Kovalenko, Head of the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) at Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council, said this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

“Russia is keen to try to destabilize the EU through hybrid attacks against individual member states. I've been warning about this for a long time, and the enemy is considering such actions against the Baltic states,” he said.

According to Kovalenko, Russia seeks to deprive Ukraine of European support because Putin believes he will be able to destroy the Ukrainian state.

“Russia has constantly conducted intimidation campaigns against the EU – nuclear threats, the Oreshnik missile, and incursions by missiles and drones,” the CCD Chief recalled.

He added that Russia expects hybrid attacks on EU countries could frighten European societies and prompt them to pressure politicians to stop supporting Ukraine.

“Such intentions are proof that Russia is currently suffering painful blows and understands that it cannot win the war, while this inability is synonymous with catastrophe for Putin,” Kovalenko stressed.

The CCD Chief expressed confidence that EU countries understand these threats and are also aware of the cognitive warfare Russia has been waging for a long time.

As reported by Ukrinform, France should be prepared for the possibility that Russian hybrid attacks on its territory could become more direct and violent.
