Stories From Ajloun Initiative Launched To Preserve Local Heritage

Ajloun, Aug. 27 (Petra)-- Ali Freihat - On behalf of Minister of Culture Mustafa Al-Rawashdeh, Director General of the National Library Department Prof. Firas Al-Darabaah on Thursday patronized the launch of the "Stories from Ajloun" initiative at the Ajloun Cultural Center.

Al-Drabaah underscored the importance of community-based initiatives that contribute to preserving the national memory and documenting local heritage. He noted that the National Library Department attaches great importance to collecting and preserving Jordanian cultural production and strengthening partnerships with cultural institutions across the Kingdom's governorates.

The initiative aims to collect and document folk tales, proverbs and traditional songs from elderly residents of Ajloun Governorate and present them to younger generations through interactive activities and digital platforms. The initiative seeks to strengthen young people's connection to their cultural identity and highlight Ajloun's heritage as an integral part of Jordan's national memory.

Organizers of the initiative praised the continued support and cooperation provided by cultural institutions, stressing the importance of concerted efforts to preserve Jordanian heritage and pass it on to future generations in a well-documented and engaging form.
