Defense Forces Test New Robotic Turrets With Assault Rifles On Front Line
The strike systems were developed based on technical specifications provided by Brave1, a defense innovation cluster.
The project received grant funding, and the developers needed less than six months to go from the initial idea to a working prototype.
Using standard Kalashnikov assault rifles makes it possible to reduce production costs and rapidly scale the deployment of ground robotic systems on the front line.
Read also: USF strikes air defense system protecting Russian airfield in MillerovoThe system is built on a four-wheel chassis with airless tires and features a protected body. This design makes it resistant to shrapnel, bullets, and punctures while allowing it to maneuver across difficult terrain.
The weapon module features a twin turret capable of mounting two assault rifles simultaneously. This significantly increases the density of fire during offensive and defensive operations against enemy infantry. The turret can also be mounted on other wheeled and tracked ground robotic systems.
Several Ukrainian Defense Forces units are already testing these systems in combat conditions. In particular, there are confirmed cases of the Security Service of Ukraine's Special Operations Center "A" successfully using them against enemy ambushes involving "waiting" drones.
The Ministry of Defense is systematically working to introduce robotic systems. These systems are intended to take over the most dangerous tasks on the front line, minimizing the presence of infantry in areas of direct fire contact.
"We are robotizing the front to reduce risks to infantry and save the lives of our soldiers," the ministry said.
As Ukrinform reported, since the beginning of 2026, ground robotic systems have carried out more than 100,000 missions in place of Ukrainian troops on the front line.
