Army Commander Meets Rajasthan DGP, Discusses Border Security And Coordination

(MENAFN- IANS) Jaipur, Aug 27 (IANS) Army Commander General Dheeraj Seth on Thursday met Rajasthan Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Kumar Sharma in Jaipur for detailed discussions on border and internal security, intelligence sharing, joint surveillance, disaster response and strengthening coordination between the Army and Rajasthan Police.

Officials said the meeting focused on enhancing preparedness to address emerging security challenges. Sharma welcomed General Seth by presenting him with a bouquet and a memento featuring the insignias of various Rajasthan Police units.

General Seth reciprocated by presenting Sharma with a military memento, symbolising mutual respect and professional camaraderie.

During the meeting, both sides held extensive discussions on security along Rajasthan's international border, internal security challenges and the need for close coordination between the Army and Police during sensitive situations. They underlined the importance of maintaining regular communication and strengthening mechanisms for timely information exchange.

The meeting emphasised enhancing joint regional surveillance and intelligence‐sharing arrangements to respond effectively to emerging threats. Officials agreed that closer coordination, continuous dialogue and coordinated preparedness would play a key role in ensuring prompt and effective responses requiring combined capabilities of the security forces and civil administration.

Discussions also covered the Army's cooperation with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) during natural calamities and emergencies. The successful conduct of the recent Army recruitment drive was cited as an example of effective coordination among the Army, Rajasthan Police and civil administration.

The two officials agreed to strengthen synergy in training and capacity building. They discussed greater opportunities for joint training, professional interaction, and sharing of operational experience to enhance preparedness and institutional cooperation.

The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to maintaining close coordination and strengthening the partnership between the Army and Rajasthan Police in the interest of security, disaster response and public safety.
