Death Toll From Northern Nepal Floods Rises To 270
The Nepal Tourism Board reported today that approximately 644 tourists are missing in the flash floods. Among the missing are 127 Nepalese citizens and 517 foreign tourists from about 30 countries.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority stated that rescue teams have evacuated 305 people by air, while 7,451 security personnel have been deployed to participate in search and rescue operations.
Meanwhile, search and rescue operations continue in the affected areas, as local authorities work to locate the missing and recover more bodies.
Nepalese authorities announced yesterday (Wednesday) that at least 384 people, including 291 foreigners, were missing following flash floods that swept through the north of the country.
