Ministries Launch 2026-2027 Cleanliness, Anti-Littering Partnership

Amman, Aug. 27 (Petra) -- The Ministries of Social Development and Environment on Thursday launched a partnership to implement the 2026–2027 executive program of the National Cleanliness and Anti-Indiscriminate Waste Dumping Strategy, with 10 charitable associations selected to carry out activities in several governorates.

The partnership was announced in the presence of Minister of Social Development Wafa Bani Mustafa and Minister of Environment Ayman Suleiman.

Bani Mustafa stated that the ministry selected 10 active charitable associations with the experience and capacity to implement activities in targeted areas. The associations prepared implementation plans that were subsequently reviewed by the ministry to ensure alignment with the program's objectives and expected outcomes.

She noted that protecting the environment and maintaining cleanliness in public spaces require coordinated efforts among government institutions, civil society, and local communities. She added that the strategy has received Royal attention and is subject to continued government follow-up.

Bani Mustafa emphasized the role of charitable associations and civil society organizations in encouraging community participation and promoting sustained environmental awareness, with the aim of making cleanliness and responsible waste disposal part of everyday behavior rather than seasonal activities.

She also highlighted the role of associations in local development, awareness-raising, and reaching communities requiring organized and sustained interventions.

Suleiman stated that cooperation with the Ministry of Social Development is intended to strengthen coordination between state institutions and civil society in implementing the cleanliness and anti-littering program.

He stressed that achieving the program's objectives requires cooperation among the government, municipalities, security agencies, the private sector, associations, youth, and local communities.

Suleiman noted that the Ministry of Social Development is supporting 10 charitable associations in Irbid, Ajloun, Jerash, and Amman to implement environmental initiatives and promote community participation in maintaining cleanliness and reducing littering.

At the conclusion of the launch ceremony, attended by representatives of charitable and women's associations, civil society organizations, and officials from both ministries, financial support was distributed to the selected associations under agreements governing implementation of their field activities and programs.
