Macron Backs SDF Integration into Syrian State

(MENAFN) French President Emmanuel Macron welcomes the latest development toward integrating the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into the Syrian state, describing the move as an important step toward achieving a peaceful political settlement.

“I congratulate Syria on the decisive step taken yesterday in the process of peacefully integrating the Syrian Democratic Forces into the Syrian state,” Macron said.

He commends Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa for his commitment to the process, while also recognizing SDF leader Mazloum Abdi and the group for what he described as their responsible approach.

Macron says France has supported the process since the beginning of Syria’s political transition and will continue to follow its implementation closely.

“France will continue to support the Syrian transition, guided solely by Syria’s unity and sovereignty, respect for all its components, and the state’s monopoly on weapons,” he said.

The French president adds that these principles are crucial to establishing lasting peace and stability in Syria and the wider region.
