Smoke Rising Over Oil Refinery In Ufa After Drone Attack Media
Photographs taken by eyewitnesses and analyzed by Astra show smoke over the territory of the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim refinery.
Earlier on Thursday, reports emerged that Bashkortostan had come under a UAV attack. Russia's Defense Ministry claimed that drones had allegedly been shot down over the region. Ufa's airport was temporarily closed.
The Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim refinery is one of the leading oil refineries operated by PJSC Rosneft. The facility specializes in deep processing of hydrocarbon feedstocks and the production of fuels, lubricants and aromatic hydrocarbons.
The refinery is considered a dual-use facility and supplies specialized fuel to Russia's armed forces, as well as petrochemical feedstock for the production of defense-grade materials.
