Zelensky Calls For More Ballistic Missile Defense After Russia's Overnight Attack

“Russia continues to invest in missiles and in expanding its war, and that means more countermeasures are needed. This week, our European allies made important decisions to strengthen Ukrainian air defense. It is important that these are also supplemented by additional ballistic missile defense packages, first and foremost through PURL. Everything that strengthens the protection of our skies effectively saves the lives of Ukrainians every day. He noted that efforts to deal with the aftermath of Russia's attack on regions across Ukraine had been underway since overnight. The President said it was a combined strike involving drones and ballistic missiles.

According to Zelensky, Russian forces struck critical infrastructure in the Poltava, Sumy and Kherson regions. Residential buildings were targeted in the Kharkiv region. In Kramatorsk, a guided aerial bomb struck a high-rise apartment building. Four people were rescued by units of the State Emergency Service. Three people were injured in Zaporizhzhia and two in Kryvyi Rih. A residential high-rise building in Odesa was also hit. In Chubynske, Kyiv region, all necessary emergency services were deployed to put out fires at enterprises following the drone attack.

As reported by Ukrinform, Volodymyr Zelensky said that at the Summit of the Coalition of the Willing in Kyiv, agreements had been reached on supplying Ukraine with a certain number of missiles for Patriot air defense systems, as well as several Crotale air defense systems and missiles for them.
