Türkiye Pushes Regional Peace as Kurtulmus Highlights Israel’s Concerns

(MENAFN) Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus says Türkiye is working to promote peace and closer ties across a region divided by conflict and terrorism, arguing that these efforts have raised concerns in Israel.

"Israel fears only Türkiye. It fears the climate of peace and brotherhood that Türkiye will create in its region, and we must make this happen," Kurtulmus said during a civil society meeting in Afyonkarahisar.

Kurtulmus emphasizes the shared historical and cultural background of the region’s different ethnic communities, saying that divisions created by years of violence and instability should be overcome.

"All the ethnic elements of this region are parts of the same civilization,” he said. “Now, through the issue of a Terror-Free Türkiye and a terror-free region, we are bringing the scattered pieces back together."

He also describes the reported dissolution of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) as an important development, expressing hope that the move will be followed by further progress toward regional stability.

"The statement that the SDF has dissolved itself as an organization is important, historic and valuable for us. God willing, the continuation of this process will follow this statement," he added.
