Russia, Ukraine Complete Prisoner Exchange Through Belarus

(MENAFN) Russia and Ukraine carry out another prisoner exchange through a humanitarian channel in Belarus, with 10 servicemen from each side returning to their respective countries.

The transfer takes place on Aug. 24 and involves Russian soldiers previously held by Ukraine, according to Russian officials. In return, 10 Ukrainian prisoners are transferred back to Kyiv.

Russian Commissioner for Human Rights Yana Lantratova says the returning servicemen will receive the necessary medical and other support before being reunited with their families.

She also expresses appreciation to those who helped organize and facilitate the humanitarian exchange.

The latest 10-for-10 swap comes only days after the two countries completed a larger exchange on Aug. 19, when 103 prisoners from each side were returned.
